Greetings Fellow Elks…

This past weekend, I attended the Ohio Elks Spring Convention. Aside from learning what it is an Exalted Ruler should be doing for his lodge, I came away with one overwhelming impression. There is a very large number of Elks across Ohio that possess an extraordinary level of dedication and commitment to Elkdom. It is Volunteering personified.

If you have the weekend free, the next Ohio State Convention will be the Fall Reunion held in August when the new Grand Exalted Ruler Doug Schiefer from Ohio will be visiting the state! It’s a great learning experience. Plus, the hospitality rooms are not to be missed!

As I mentioned in the April Bullhorn, I hope to add at least one new member each month. May is covered. We will install a new member at our May 1st meeting.

May marks the start of the lodge golf league and the kick-off to a busy slate of events including The Kentucky Derby and night at the races, our annual Mother’s Day Wine Tasting, 1815 Club Meeting, and a 5th Wednesday outing to our friends at Cuyahoga Falls - Akron - Barberton Lodge #1923.

Lastly, our lodge will be hosting the state officers at the end of the month. We have a great concert and pork roast planned, and we will be hosting the Northeast District golf outing and meetings.

It’s an incredibly busy time for our officers and we hope every member can make it to the lodge at some point this month.

Fraternally,

Bob Bickford
